Moss Landing Location

Below are photos of many new pieces, made for the upcoming show at Moss Landing. I will have a double size booth, should be a beautiful day. Tommorrow, Sunday July 31. I will be located in 58-60, Just across from Post Office. Much of the inventory shown in last 3 or 4 posts is available and will be shown tommorrow.

New Pieces

First photos are of chimney cabinet. The door is made from Napa Valley farmhouse 4 panel door. Very nice victorian cast iron hardware. The flower in center of top rail came from an antique hand wrought iron fence panel.

Another chimney cabinet, beautiful hardware, purple crystal knob. Cabinet to the right uses a couple of New England shutters for doors. The green sides are of wood recently salvaged from Lake County resort cabins I deconstructed.

Very cool primitive piece recently purchased at SF flea market. The larger piece was a tack box from a Fresno horse barn, originally had a sloped top that opened. I took it apart and leveled off the top and added the doors and an interior shelf. The top is nicely patinated tin. The smaller box is lined with tin, same barn, no idea what its function was.

Console table, very interesting cast iron base. Labeled "Singer Sewing Machine Exchange, San Francisco", and "USA".

Another console table, sides are from old wooden painters ladder, porch brackets from the midwest.

Found this old icebox at Alameda, love the green and white distressed finish. I gutted the insides and created a cabinet with drawer and wooden top.

Another whimsical piece. I loved the lines on this old victrola cabinet. I gutted the piece, painted it and added the door and a drawer on slides. Top still opens.

Found this antique vanity at Urban Ore in Berkeley. Solid black walnut construction, dovetailed drawers, very nice solid bones. The top was in very bad shape so I removed and created new one to match the paint job. Very Beachy.

Bought this old medicine cabinet at Sacramento flea market, originally an in wall piece, I rebuilt as hanging cabinet. The patina on the metal case is amazing.

Cool old metal base, polished and laquered, added the wood top and shelf.

The industrial metal base here I purchased at SF flea. We removed paint and polished the steel. The solid black walnut top piece was salvaged from a recent estate cleanout, nice match.

Upcoming Show Dates, Locations

Bryan Appleton Designs will be at Moss Landing Antique Fair, Sunday July 31. Space nos. 58 & 60, directly across from Post Office. Also, I will be back at Alameda Antique Fair, Sunday Aug. 7. (After this I will not be back until October)Booth space N-15, on corner facing food vendors. Other future scheduled appearances are Sunday Sept. 18 at Marin Farmers Market at San Rafael Civic Center, and Saturday Sept. 24 at Grand Lake Farmers Market in Oakland, across from Grandlake theater. Also, in September the Petaluma Antique fair, Sunday Sept. 25, I will be there.

New Pieces, Custom Pieces

It's been awhile since I last posted, quite a few photos. Note, Any photo here can be viewed in close-up by clicking on photo. Thankyou Google! First cabinet shown, marble top salvaged from victorian table. Mix of repurposed wood, vintage kitchen cabinet glass door, carved oak embellishment from deconstructed victorian era sofa.

These photos are of new piece that is showing in Zonal, in Hayes Valley, SF. Very cool shutters purchased at Alameda as doors. Antique Windsor pattern cabinet latches, steeple tip hinges. The hand wrought iron embellishment is from estate of an Antique dealer in SF. this was part of an old fence, incredible workmanship.

Shelf unit, I purchased at salvage yard, added beadboard back and the top crest is part of an antique chip carved headboard. Available.

I recently purchased these vintage diamond paned panels at an estate sale in Novato. I made the doors with these panels and then created this cabinet around doors. Vintage hardware, repurposed wood throughout. Very cool tile piece at top center, was marked "Richmond Tile Works" on back. Black walnut carved corbels are salvaged from a deconstructed victorian era armoire. This piece is going to store in Half Moon Bay, called Abode.

Recently built custom Table + Bench. Architectural columns were used for legs, crosspiece. These were salvaged from old victorian in Weed, Ca. More of the handwrought iron fence balusters used here. The iron banding was found at a dump site in Lake County, originally old bedrails! Tabletop made from roughsawn doug fir timbers, planed, and some vintage barnwood.

This custom cabinet is a file cabinet/ drawer combo. Exterior is made entirely from rough sawn doug fir timbers, resawn. The handles are from an estate sale, originally from old Bank Of Italy in SF.

Very nice old farmhouse table, pretty beat up when I got it. It has been rebuilt, very solid now, finished with spar varnish for exterior use. Available.

This table I purchased when I moved into my warehouse as a possible worktable. It was covered with a sheet of linoleum, and painted pink. I left it outside in the rain, and the linoleum began to delaminate. Very surprised to find this beautiful blue painted beadboard top underneath! Sanded off the pink on legs and skirt boards. Perfect table for beachhouse? Available.

Custom bathroom vanity, created for a vessel sink. Mix of architectural elements, antique cast iron hardware, vintage furniture parts. Top is black walnut, from deconstructed bookcase.

Beachy cabinet. Created from vintage kitchen cabinet door, repurposed wood throughout. This cabinet is available at Warmth Co., store in Aptos.

This piece was created for customer who wanted something to put a flat screen TV on, and to organize cable box, DVD player, etc.

This piece started out as a vintage metal shelf unit purchased at a junkyard. Probably from a commercial sized kitchen. I painted with white enamel, then created from white barnwood from deconstructed horse barn in Marin, very cool antique French hand wrought iron fence sections as sides, vintage headboard piece as the crest. Available.

Very popular bench unit, with shelf. This one is 48". Available.

Very cool storage piece. Purchased at junkyard, came out of the Lawrence Livermore Lab woodshop. I added some trim and the antique milkglass and crystal knobs. Available at The Warmth Co., in Aptos.

TV stand? Very interesting iron piece from junkyard, I added the top. Available.

Marin Farmers Market Cancellation

I have cancelled my next two scheduled appearances, Marin Farmers Markets on Sun. 6/26, and Thurs. 6/30, in order to catch up on backlog of custom orders. I am very grateful for the interest in my furniture and look forward to showing again at Moss Landing Antique fair on Sun. July 31 and Sun. 8/7 at Alameda. As always shop is open by appt. and I will be posting photos of new pieces as Moss Landing show approaches. Many of pieces posted on blog last several months are still avail., call 415 336 2784 for specific info.

Alameda Sunday June 5, other June appearances, New pieces

The upcoming Alameda Antique show on Sunday is forecasted to have chances of showers. However, I am planning on showing at this point, booth N-15 as usual. Below are a few photos of some new pieces. Many of the cabinets, tables, etc. in last few posts are also still avail. Future scheduled shows for June are Sat. 6/11 at Grand Lake Farmers Market in Oakland, Sun. 6/26 and Thurs. 6/ 30 at the San Rafael Civic Center farmers Market. I am not planning on attending Alameda again until Oct. Other July and August appearances will be posted here first week of July. Here are a couple photos of a pair of very cool industrial factory carts. The tops have been polished, the carts then were laquered.

This piece was created from an antique english washstand. Interesting contrast between the quarter sawn oak and the distressed beadboard.

This was a salvage yard find, a victorian solid black walnut small cabinet. I added the top, sides, painted it.
